Mac Os 9 setup

To use MacTCP to access a dial-up account, you must also have ConfigPPP installed on your machine.

  1. Select the 'MacTCP Control Panel' from the 'Apple' Menu or open it by double-clicking on the icon.
  2. Ensure the 'PPP' icon is selected. If this is not shown, the PPP extension is not correctly installed. Check your extensions folder for a file called 'PPP'.
  3. Set the IP address as 0.0.0.0 If you cannot do this, go to the next step.
  4. Click on the 'More...' button and on the new screen: Select 'Manually' from the 'Obtain address' menu.
  5. Set the address as 'class A'.
  6. Set the Net, Subnet and Node all to contain '0' (you may have to uncheck the lock boxes next to each of them to be able to do this).
  7. Set the Gateway address in the Routing information section to 0.0.0.0
  8. In the 'Domain name server' section, set the first name box to be 158.43.240.4, the address next to it to be 158.43.240.3 and click on the first default button.
  9. Select 'Server' from the 'Obtain address' menu.
  10. This should complete the setup of MacTCP. Please ensure that you also configure ConfigPPP before attempting to establish a link.
