Mac Os 9 setup
To use MacTCP to access a dial-up account, you must also have ConfigPPP installed on your machine.
- Select the 'MacTCP Control Panel' from the 'Apple' Menu or open it by double-clicking on the icon.
- Ensure the 'PPP' icon is selected. If this is not shown, the PPP extension is not correctly installed. Check your extensions folder for a file called 'PPP'.
- Set the IP address as 0.0.0.0 If you cannot do this, go to the next step.
- Click on the 'More...' button and on the new screen: Select 'Manually' from the 'Obtain address' menu.
- Set the address as 'class A'.
- Set the Net, Subnet and Node all to contain '0' (you may have to uncheck the lock boxes next to each of them to be able to do this).
- Set the Gateway address in the Routing information section to 0.0.0.0
- In the 'Domain name server' section, set the first name box to be 158.43.240.4, the address next to it to be 158.43.240.3 and click on the first default button.
- Select 'Server' from the 'Obtain address' menu.
- This should complete the setup of MacTCP. Please ensure that you also configure ConfigPPP before attempting to establish a link.
